Planning for Christmas
I adore the festive period of Christmas, but it can also be extremely busy and overwhelming so for me, preparation is the key - then your priorities remain on what the season is all about - giving and enjoying your friends and family.
I took photos for our Christmas shoot in early September. The tree was up, the sense of anticipation and excitement of decorating the tree fell flat, when we tested our tree lights. They worked on the ground and then we started to put them on the tree and 4 sets fused! A lesson learned…. Check your lights well before you plan to put up your tree!! I recommend staying with one colour theme - warm white!
Many depart to other shores to spend Christmas with family and friends around mid December. I am all for embracing the Faux tree in Singapore and putting it up mid November, so you can enjoy the spirit and atmosphere here and enjoy a different theme with a real tree and its pine scent the other end!
Save precious time by doing research on line, purchase on our web store and receive complimentary gift wrapping and free delivery on orders over $150 within Singapore.
I always tend to favour natural rattan or hemp placemats, a nod to the tropics with shell napkin rings and a touch of glamour with splashes of gold. Gold serving trays, marble and gold trim cheese boards and twinkling gold votives and cut glass hurricanes.
Fill the key living areas with red flowers - in the tropics we can improvise with red roses mixed with berries, red orchids, Indonesian wax ginger. Love the red mix with blue and white chinoiserie. If red isn’t your thing, then we can offer an alternative with hurricanes surrounded in white berries, white hydrangea & protea bouquets and garlands in cream rose berry.
Usually Christmas is a time when friends and family come together. This inevitably involves guests coming to stay. Update the guest room with new throw pillows, fresh cotton blanket or throw, new frames with recent photos (try and keep the photo to a head shot vs group photos), add a candle and a small gift for the guests. Guest bathrooms shouldn’t be ignored - update with blue and white ceramic jars or planters, fresh scented hand wash and new hand towels.
Nothing beats lighting a candle to truly create the holiday atmosphere.
This year we are offering 2 exclusive ranges of Christmas scents.
We are excited to stock candles from the Aerin Lauder, NY range -
Fireside & Fir, Wild Mulberry, Aralia Cedar, Trumpet Vine and Jacaranda Wood.
Lumira candles from Australia - Tuscan Fig and Leather & Cedar.
Interestingly, most people I speak to, do not update their Christmas playlists each year. Whilst we all love singing to our old favourites, updating with some new versions is highly recommended! I also tend to separate my children’s playlists from my own Christmas playlist.
Twinkling lights can soften even the most disillusioned - flameless candles on timers are a TERRIFIC way to set the mood. This season we are excited to offer silver and gold dazzler flameless candles alongside our usual range.
You can never have enough - use them both indoors and outdoors.
Always tricky for adults, so I like to source the items early.
