Meet The Interior Stylist

Australian interior stylist, Kirsty Marr, is the go-to-person in Sydney, for those wanting to update the aesthetics of their homes. Kirsty places an emphasis on soft furnishings, finishes and accessories to achieve the wow factor. Her career started in publicity for the Disney Channel followed by Kirsty setting up her own hugely successful Children's wear label, Cocoon, stocked in over 150 stores Australia wide..

Kirsty's passion for interiors unfolded with the refurbishment of her own home, featured in Australian House & Garden.

This exposure helped Kirsty launch her new business - The Undecided - which offers both interiors and lifestyle advice and services.

Kirsty's Style
Given the proximity to the beaches, of many houses in Sydney, Kirsty favours island style living - our modern life being so hectic, there is an emphasis on bringing the outside elements indoors to help create a relaxed atmosphere, without skimping on comfort or style.

Neutral or Colour?
Kirsty favours neutrals for both her wardrobe and her interiors but doesn't mind a pop of colour through cushions, throws or ottomans.

Favourite items for projects?
Kirsty highly recommends round pieces to offset the linear angles of existing furniture and architecture within the home.
Always include indoor plants as they transform the room.

One Piece of Advice Never To Do In Your Home
To style your home to reflect someone else's lifestyle and taste. A home is an extension of you and your family - your interests, momentos from travel & experiences.

Highly Recommended For The Bedroom
Ensure your bed is balanced with pillows. I favour 6-8 (Euro, long pillow, standard for sleeping and shams) and a throw or folded coverlet at the base of the bed. Kirsty prefers cleaner lines with no headboards but if you do decide to use one, a changeable cover is recommended.

Tips For The Home
Kirsty favour the use of indoor & outdoor fabrics such as Westbury Textiles for their durability and low maintenance.

Entertaining tips
Abundance of candle light in the centre of the dining table - varying in heights, intermingled with small vases of coloured flowers and I am embracing the recent trend of fluorescent napkins to add a pop of colour to the table.
